Paul Simon has been having problems regarding his hearing and it's hard for him as a musician as he constantly performs in front of a live audience. More recently, the singer gave fans an insight on the process of rehearsing in order for it to fit his needs.

According to Ultimate Classic Rock, the musician first retired from playing live since 2018 after he performed at his farewell tour called "Homeward Bound."

Since then, the musician only performed on a handful of events.

After he decided to take a break from music and don't perform on a regular basis anymore, he encountered a hurdle as he has been having problems with his hearing.

It appears that Simon already consulted with medical professionals regarding his condition, but "nobody has an explanation for it."

He added that everything became more difficult for him and his reaction was more of a frustration and annoyance rather than anger.

"I thought it would pass, it would repair itself," he said in an interview earlier this year.

Paul Simon Not Performing Live Anymore Due to Hearing Loss?

More recently, the musician opened up the topic about his hearing loss again in an interview with Mojo.

He told the publication that he hasn't figured out how to perform new music that he's working on given his medical condition.

"That's literally a lifesaver because I haven't figured out how to perform with the hearing loss. This is at least an outlet for thinking musically," he said. (via NME)

Paul Simon Still Appreciates his Music

Elsewhere in the conversation, the musician noted that he still appreciates his music even though he's frustrated with his condition.

The reason behind it is that he loves making music and his voice is still strong. He also loves his band which is composed of "gifted musicians."

Since he had been performing for decades, Simon said he thinks about music constantly and he's grateful for the career he has, especially to the audiences who keeps on listening to him.

As of this writing, Paul Simon has yet to reveal wheter he's going to completely stop performing at live shows or not. His last musical project was "Seven Psalms," which was his 15th solo album.
