Initial projections see NewJeans' "Get Up" debuted at the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 chart.

However, with delays ensuing earlier this week that keeps the publication from releasing last week's charts, "Barbie: The Album" could overtake the album at the summit.

Barbie vs NewJeans on Billboard 200

According to Hits Daily Double, NewJeans' new album "Get Up" was projected to debut with 130,000 album-equivalent units, and the "Barbie" Soundtrack with 109,000 album-equivalent units.

While the anticipation builds over the weekend, many were surprised that Billboard hasn't announced the highly-awaited chart due to delays.

According to the publication, "the announcement of the top 10 of the Billboard 200 is delayed due to a processing issue." Usually, the Billboard Top 10 is announced Sunday night weekly, with the Hot 100 coming the day after. The full charts are released Tuesday.

However, up until now and this writing, the Billboard 200 charts have yet to determine its leader.

Meanwhile, Forbes suggests that the delays could swap out the two, with the "Barbie" movie overtaking the South Korean girl band.

'Barbie' Soundtrack on Billboard Charts

Based on this week's Billboard Hot 100 Top 10, Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice's "Barbie World" returns to the Top 10 at No. 8. It is currently the highest-charting single of the soundtrack, returning a spot lower than its debut position.

Chart Data reported that the single also reached a new peak on the Billboard Global 200 singles chart at No. 6. Meanwhile, the song also gets its all-time high on the UK Singles Chart at No. 5.

Similarly, Dua Lipa's "Dance The Night" currently sits at No. 4 on the UK Singles chart as of July 30, while Eilish's "What Was I Made For?" is challenging for the top spot. Meanwhile, the same track also vaulted to No. 7 on the Billboard Global 200 singles chart.

AP News spoke highly of the "Barbie" album in a favorable review, saying that the artists "understood the assignment"

"Collectively, they deliver a dreamhouse of songs that are each at least a little better than they have to be. The tracks succeed both as cinematic elements and as standalone songs. The result is a worthy, danceable bookend to the classic Saturday Night Fever soundtrack of a generation before," the review said.
