Reports claim that 27 years after the passing of Tupac Shakur, Keefe D, who confessed to being responsible for the rapper's death, is now facing an imminent murder charge.

The Las Vegas homicide detectives are confident that they have finally built a sufficient case against alleged shooter Keefe D, a known Crips associate.

Despite passing two and a half decades, authorities remain optimistic that this will finally bring closure to one of hip hop's most sensational unsolved murders.

Rumors have been swirling that the district attorney's office is prepping to bring a criminal case before a Las Vegas grand jury.

Reports indicate they could be bringing charges of first-degree murder against Keefe D, whose true name is Duane Keith Davis, and sources suggest this could happen soon.

In the coming weeks, a grand jury will determine whether there is sufficient evidence to bring forth charges against Keefe D. Should they decide that the proof is adequate, then proceedings are expected to commence.

The homicide team considered their every move carefully before beginning the investigation into Keefe, according to a source. They were aware of the eyes upon them and wanted to ensure no misstep was made, said The Sun's source.

The detective has conducted months of investigations to build a formidable case. According to another source, Keefe D may attempt to agree with plea bargaining.

The authorities have voiced their opinion that Keefe would soon face a criminal case, as he has often flaunted and boasted about it. "He has practically talked himself into many legal issues," said the statement.

In the now infamous case of Tupac's murder, Keefe D has owned up to his involvement.

As seen in A&E's documentary "Who Killed Tupac?," he revealed that when they drove next to the white Cadillac Tupac was in, shots were fired from inside their car.

Though never explicitly stated, it's believed that the shots which fatally wounded Tupac came from the backseat of a car.

On September 7, 1997, after attending a boxing match in Las Vegas, Tupac Shakur and his associate Marion "Suge" Knight were involved in an altercation involving another man named "Orlando."

Reports indicate that it was later this night that Tupac would meet a tragic end.

As Suge's vehicle sat idling, an ominous white Cadillac drew up next to it.

Suddenly the rear window rolled down, and gunshots were unleashed from within. 13 shots struck both men. Tupac was impacted three times in the chest, and shrapnel fragments flew inches past Suge's head.

Contrarily, Tupac remained in medical care after Suge was discharged the following day. After numerous treatments and operations, Tupac sadly passed away on September 13 due to his wounds.
