The Beatles and Queen are both established bands in the music industry, but a producer recently explained why the latter is greater than the other.

Producer and engineer Steve Lillywhite previously worked for other bands' hit songs, including Talking Heads' "Naked," U2's "The Joshua Tree," The Rolling Stones' "Dirty Work," and Siouxsie and the Banshees' "The Scream," to name a few.

After working with different bands, he explained what makes a group great - picking between The Beatles and Queen.

Which Is The Greatest Band: The Beatles or Queen?

In his recent interview on Warren Huart's "Produce Like a Pro" podcast, Lillywhite opened up about the music giants and explained why Queen is considered greater than the other band.

"Always it's been the Beatles when you talk about the greatest bands ever," he noted. "But there's an argument now that the Beatles never made anything you could play in a stadium. The Beatles never made anything you could play at a huge sporting event."

The producer said he would never say any other band can be greater than The Beatles, but he noted the ongoing argument in the industry saying that Queen has more ability to transcend stadiums - making them more relevant than The Beatles.

Among Queen's songs that remain staples in sports stadiums include "We Are The Champions," "Another One Bites The Dust," and "We Will Rock You."

Queen Topped the Poll

In April, O2 Priority Tickets created a poll and invited 2000 people to vote for the musician's dream of seeing live.

Freddie Mercury's band topped the poll with 37 percent of the vote, while The Beatles only ranked second with 10 percent less than Queen.

Following the bands on the list were Ed Sheeran, Michael Jackson, Adele, and Elvis Presley.

Meanwhile, Fleetwood Mac, David Bowie, Whitney Houston, Bob Marley, and Lady Gaga completed the Top 10.

Unlike The Beatles, Queen never disbanded and continued performing even after Mercury's death - though John Deacon has since opted not to perform with the band again after losing the frontman.

Meanwhile, The Beatles still have Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr as the two surviving members. They sparked reunion talks after their 1970 split, but it never happened after John Lennon was murdered.
