After Baz Lauhrmann's "Elvis" which put the King of Rock and Roll in the front and center, Sofia Coppola's new offering "Priscilla" is a breath of fresh air, offering a new perspective on one of the entertainment industry's most controversial relationships ever.

Priscilla Presley was heavily involved in the project like she was on "Elvis." In a press conference, Presley talked about the glaring preconceived notion that has been an ongoing discussion for years already.

Elvis Presley, Priscilla Presley Relationship Age Gap

Hollywood doesn't exactly dictate what age is apt for couples. Age gaps are actually non-existent for many celebrities. Even at the conservative age decades ago, many celebrities didn't seem to be bothered by it, but the public was and up until now, some continue to be.

When Priscilla Presley tied the knot with Elvis in 1967, she was only 22 years old. Records show that Priscilla met Elvis when she was still 14. They went on to date until they married in 1967. (via Commercial Appeal)

For some, meeting and dating at a young age, especially with a 10-year age gap, meant that some boundaries and promiscuity might have ensued one way or another. To put it simply, Elvis was 24 when she met 14-year-old Priscilla at the time.

Did Priscilla Presley Have Sex With Elvis At 14?

Priscilla's story is now the focus of Sofia Coppola's new biopic "Priscilla" from A24 films, In a press conference, Priscilla spoke about the preconceived discussion that she and Elvis had sex when she was 14.

"[He liked me] because I was more of a listener," Priscilla told the press, as quoted by Rolling Stone. "Elvis would pour his heart out to me every way ... and I was the person who really, really sat there to listen and to comfort him. That was really our connection."

Priscilla insisted that she and Elvis "never had sex" when they started dating, even emphasizing that the late music icon "respected" her age.

"People think, 'Oh, it was sex,'" Priscilla clarified. "Not at all. I never had sex with him [at the time]." She even added that when Elvis asked her not to publicize their relationship, she stayed true to her promise.

"I never gave him up in any way," the 78-year-old said in a statement. "I never told anyone at school I was seeing him."

However, the two settled in a divorce in 1973. But despite their separation, the two remained close, as they share a child - the late Lisa Marie Presley.

"We still remained very close, and of course we had our daughter, and I made sure that he saw her all the time," she went on to say. "It was like we never left each other - so I want to make that clear."

"Sofia" premiered at the 80th Venice International Film Festival on Sep. 4, 2023.
