Bruce Springsteen caused worry among his fans after having many of his 2023 Arena Tour shows canceled, in the past few months. Now, he has canceled the remainder of his tour starting from his September 2023 dates.

Per a statement shared on his page, it was revealed that Springsteen has been diagnosed with peptic ulcer.

Bruce Springsteen Disease Explained

In the past, Bruce Springsteen has canceled and postponed some of his concerts and shows during his Arena tour over a mystery disease that many have come to be puzzled about.

While it has not been confirmed whether his new diagnosis was the said "mystery disease," it is still difficult not to worry about his new ailment.

"Mr. Springsteen is being treated for symptoms of peptic ulcer disease and the decision of his medical advisors is that he should postpone the remainder of his September shows," the statement read.

Little is known about Springsteen's medical condition relating to his ulcer. According to The Mayo Clinic, peptic ulcers are open sores that have developed on the inside of one's stomach and at the upper portion of the small intestine.

Commonly, peptic ulcers are caused by an infection within the bacterium Helicobacter pylori and long-term use of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs like Ibuprofen, and Naproxen sodium. While many said that stress and spicy foods cause peptic ulcers - they actually do not but it make the symptoms worse.

Additionally, the symptoms of peptic ulcer include burning stomach pain, feeling of fullness, bloating, or belching, nausea, and heartburn.

Does Peptic Ulcer Have A Cure?

According to the National Health Service, peptic ulcers have a cure or treatment at hand, but it will depend on what caused it. In best cases with treatment, most ulcers heal in a few months.

If it was caused by Helicobacter pylori bacterial infection, a regimen of antibiotics and a proton pump inhibitor (PPI) can be used including omeprazole, pantoprazole, and lansoprazole. This can also be the treatment if it has been known that excessive taking of anti-inflammatory drugs is the cause.

If it's only caused by the excessive use of taking anti-inflammatory drugs, patients are recommended to take only a regimen of PPIs.

According to Providence Saint John's Health Center gastroenterologist Dr. Rudolph Bedford, "it can happen to anyone" as someone like Springsteen's age likely has more medications than someone who is younger.

"I would certainly think he'd be popping antacids and acid-reducing meds all day," Bedford told Billboard in a statement.
