A new shocking detail about "Pop Idol" contestant Darius Campbell Danesh emerged a year after his death.

Danesh was found dead on August 11, 2022, in Rochester, Minn., after struggling with health problems, including severe nerve pain in his neck and an unknown health issue. Although the authorities concluded the investigation into his death, new details from the medical examiner revealed his tragic last days.

Darius Campbell Danesh's Shocking Accidental Death

In an exclusive statement to The Scotsman, Danesh's family revealed that the singer-actor consumed marijuana on top of the pain medication and chloroethane to manage his severe nerve pain in the neck before passing.

According to his bereaved loved ones, his pain issues started following the car accidents he got involved in 2010 and 2021, and the feeling reportedly progressed in the months leading to his death.

The 2010 incident happened when the Porsche he was riding hit a wall at 70 mph in Spain.

"The night before Darius passed, he had dinner with close friends, who reported that 'Darius was in a lot of pain, but he was in good spirits when he was with us,'" the family noted. "They stayed together until the early hours of the morning and made plans to meet the following day."

A hotel staff checked on him after he failed to show up, only to find him unresponsive in bed after inhaling chloroethane using a bag.

Danesh reportedly suffered a respiratory arrest and was pronounced dead by the Rochester Fire and Police Department shortly after responding to the scene.

The singer's family also revealed that the autopsy report found that his heart was twice the normal size and reiterated that there were no suspicious events related to his passing. His friends also witnessed him in pain because of the issues with his neck, though he took medication to manage it.

They also extended their gratitude to everyone who supported the family amid the difficult year and asked for privacy to continue their healing process.

Before the family dropped the statement, the Southern Minnesota Regional Medical Examiner's Office confirmed a month after his death that he died from "inhalation of chloroethane" and that it was an accident. The post-mortem examination report also shared that the toxic effects of chloroethane and suffocation contributed to his demise.

Campbell marked his debut in the music industry in July 2002 with his single, "Colourblind," which immediately hit the top 10 list.
