Ever since he was convicted of assaulting Megan Thee Stallion, Tory Lanez has been working on his appeal. However, the appeal did not work before his sentencing trial, which sent him to 10 years in prison.

Since being sentenced, Tory Lanez has been working relentlessly to work it out too. Sadly, he lost a key decision to his appeal recently.

Tory Lanez Staying In Jail After Losing Appeal

According to Rolling Stone obtained documents, Tory Lanez lost a key decision on his appeal on the Megan Thee Stallion assault lawsuit.

Judge David Herriford, who convicted and sentenced Lanez, formally known as Daystar Peterson, to 10 years in prison, has denied the bail motion that the rapper's legal camp has put in motion.

Apparently, they filed for a bail release motion, and they wanted to free Peterson from jail while awaiting the appeal decision.

However, Herriford denied the said motion, reiterating the "violent felony" that Peterson was convicted of. He also emphasized that Peterson has a "history of violating court orders" and that there is a huge deportation risk considering he is a Canadian citizen.

Peterson's representation has changed again after being represented by Jose Baez during the sentencing. The non-profit group Unite The People has been representing the embattled rapper since. The group's CEO, Caesar McDowell said during the sentencing hearing that the rapper had donated time and resources to their organization back then.

McDowell, one of Peterson's lawyers pointed out the "unfairness" of the sentencing on Peterson's first time in jail.

"To be convicted for 10 years in state prison for your first time being in prison, we feel that that's disproportionate, We feel that he wasn't given a fair shake," he told the judge, as quoted by legal affairs journalist Meghann Cuniff by Rolling Stone.
