Anitta has finally revealed what happened to her in late 2022 after being hospitalized for "months," and what led to her recovery.

"I had problems in my lungs, I had a cancer [scare]," the singer said. "I spent months in the hospital. Nobody could figure out what I had."

Despite her massive success with her 2022 hit "Envolver", the Brazilian star was in and out of hospitals, suffering a health crisis.

"I underwent cancer testing, spent five months in the hospital, had to halt my work, and couldn't fully capitalize on the success that 'Envolver' had brought me because of my severe illness," Anitta continued.

She was actually quite concerned and even scared of what may happen to her, as doctors constantly told her that she may not even survive her mystery illness.

Anitta Turns to Music During Health Crisis

According to reports, throughout her struggle, Anitta turned to music and began to quickly work on her "dream project," hoping that she could finish it before her untimely demise.

"Throughout that time, I constantly heard that I might not make it, that my life was hanging by a thread, and I was determined not to let go of my dream project," she revealed.

She eventually recovered and even revealed that she would be releasing a new album called "Funk Generation: A Favela Love Story."

"All the music I've been making for the past year is music I'm so proud of. It's both incredibly Brazilian and intentionally international-I made sure it sounds like me in every fiber of the music," Anitta said about the upcoming album.

She also noted that it represented her roots, which was exactly what she wanted to showcase in her album.
