BTS' SUGA will be starting his mandatory military service soon, making him the third BTS member to do so.

Suga will be following his other bandmates Jin and J-Hope, who were the first two who enlisted.

BTS Suga Military Enlistment

Representatives of the Grammy-nominated Korean supergroup revealed in an announcement Suga's military enlistment date.

"We have further information regarding SUGA's military service," BIGHIT Music posted on Weverse. "SUGA will be beginning his required service on September 22."

BTS' Suga's Military Enlistment date will be on Friday, Sep. 22, 2023.

According to BIGHIT's announcement, there would be no official events taking place from Sep. 22, 2023, until he ends his mandatory military service which would last 2 years.

"We kindly ask fans to refrain from visiting SUGA at his workplace during the period of his service. Please convey your warm regards and encouragement in your hearts only," BIGHIT Music reminded.

Aside from this, BIGHIT Music also cautioned fans against "getting adversely affected by unauthorized tours or package products" that use Suga or any artists's intellectual property.

We ask for your continued love and support for SUGA until he completes his service and returns. Our company will also strive to provide all the support he needs during this time," they concluded the announcement.

According to Billboard, Suga also went live on Weverse following the announcement, assuring his fans that his mandatory military service is not something to worry about.

Suga Shoulder Injury Might Affect His Military Service?

Meanwhile, fans speculate that Suga wouldn't be subjected to intense training as he suffers from a medical condition. In 2021, People Magazine reported that Suga couldn't raise his hands after shoulder surgery.

"The pain is one thing, but when my shoulders got worse, I couldn't even raise my arms," he said at the time. "I could see the emptiness [onstage] because we've been together as a group of seven for so long. Not necessarily because I'm not there, but because something that should be there is missing."

Debates over BTS' mandatory military service sparked after some expressed concern that benching BTS would greatly impact South Korea's economy. BTS announced that the group wouldn't be performing until 2025 because of the mandatory military service.

Jin was the first BTS member to enlist, followed by J-Hope. Suga recently concluded his D-Day Tour in Asia.
