A country music star decided to quit the upcoming Tobacco and Heritage Festival due to discrimination.

According to reports, Adam Mac decided to drop out after organizers of the festival in Logan County, Kentucky expressed "concerns" over his sexuality.

"The last 24 hours have been a bit of a whirlwind," said Mac in a video uploaded on social media. "As some of you may know, the Chamber or Commerce for Russellville, Kentucky, where I'm from, announced earlier this week that I would be headlining the annual Tobacco Festival."

Mac was supposed to headline the Tobacco Festival's Grand Finale Concert on Oct. 14, however, this will not push through after "board members and some people in town" had some questions about "what kind of performance" Mac was planning to put on.

"She wanted to ensure that I would not be promoting homosexuality or sexuality in a family-friendly environment," the singer continued.

Adam Mac Faces Sexual Discrimination

Mac is a queer country music singer who hails from Kentucky. He has released several songs like "Disco Cowboy," "New Vibration," and more.

"I don't really know what they expected I was going to do, other than just come and put on one hell of a show like we do.

"To know that there are people who are angry that they've asked me to come and perform in a town that I was raised in for 21 years of my life ... and sure, they have the right to not listen to my music. They have the right to not come to my show."

According to the singer, there have been some protests against him and the decision to even include him in the lineup in the first place, which he described as "disheartening."

After "going back and forth all night," Mac decided to "cancel the show" and "let them book someone else who will not be as controversial".

Adam Mac, Kentucky's Tobacco Festival

Mac just so happens to come from and was supposed to perform in a state known for being conservative; Kentucky has come up with several anti-LGBTQIA+ legislation over the years as well.

According to reports, Mac is not the only queer artist who has spoken out against the state's blatant distaste towards the LGBTQIA+ community, and he also is not the only artist who is disappointed with the lack of support towards the community in the country music genre
