Earlier this month, Maren Morris shocked the country music industry when she announced that she would be leaving the genre. Following this, the musician received countless support from other singers and bands, and Lady A was the recent group who expressed their love for her.

The trio spoke in an interview with Billboard and they noted that they were happy with her decision and always got her back.

Charles Kelley, the vocalist and guitar player, said "I think that, at the end of the day, you've got to listen to your heart." He added that if leaving the country music industry is what her heart told her, then "more power to her."

On the other hand, the two other members, Hillary Scott and Dave Haywood, also expressed their support, saying they both love her music. (via People Magazine)

Kelley later noted that he will always be a fan of Morris' music as she makes great songs for her fans.

Maren Morris Leaves the Country Music Industry

It's been a few weeks since Maren Morris made a shocking announcement during her interview with The Los Angeles Times.

At the time, she told the outlet that there were a lot of challenges in advocating for her beliefs as well as progress in country music. Some of her personal adovacies include support for the LGBTQIA+ community, the Black Lives Matter movement, and calling out other people for their transphobic remarks like Brittany Kerr Aldean's previous comments.

"The further you get into the country music business, that's when you start to see the cracks. And once you see it, you can't un-see it," she said.

Elsewhere in the interview, the musician explained that she felt distanced from the country music industry as well as its politics.

At first, she thought she would like to "burn it to the ground and start over" but she later realized that the industry is burning itself down without any help from her.

She further noted that she was trying to mature and realize that she could walk away from the parts that no longer makes her happy.

"A lot of the drama within the community, I've chosen to step outside out of it," she added.
