Ed Sheeran's seventh studio album "Autumn Vibrations" helped him earn one of the most coveted awards by an artist from the United Kingdom: a gold BRITS Award.

"Thank you so much for all the streams. It's a pleasure, I love being British," the singer said in a video uploaded to Instagram following his win.

According to reports, Sheeran is the first-ever UK artist to receive the award after logging 10 billion UK streams.

"It's wonderful to receive the first-ever BRIT Billion Award in the UK for 10 billion streams. I want to say a big thank you to my fans. None of this is possible without you guys," the singer continued as he held up the special edition award.

Ed Sheeran's 'New Album 'Autumn Vibrations'

Even before releasing his new album, Sheeran was already one of the most popular artists from the UK; he rose to prominence following the release of his sophomore album, "Multiply," in 2014, which included the viral hit sensations "Thinking Out Loud" and "Photograph."

However, according to reports, his newest release, "Autumn Vibrations" did not receive as critical acclaim as his previous releases, namely "Multiply" and "Divide."

As per The Guardian, they gave the album two out of five stars, noting that the album is "as flat and dull as a grey sky."

Sheeran was criticized for the "half-a***ed" lyrics that did not rhyme or "make basic sense."

NME also gave the album a two out of five-star rating. They likened the album to "aimlessly swiping through Instagram, blurry snaps of followers' leafy happenings whizzing past in a distracted daze."

Ed Sheeran's Massive Success

Despite the dreadful comments critics wrote about "Autumn Vibrations," Sheeran has managed to earn himself a milestone in his career.

Not only is he currently on tour for his "The Mathematics" tour, but the singer has also entertained the idea of headlining the Super Bowl Halftime show.

Unlike other artists, though, Sheeran is known to just stand in the middle of the stage and perform with a guitar, which is one of the reasons why he does not see himself being called upon for the highly anticipated sports slash music event of each and every year.

"I think that would be the only way that I would do it, is if I was joining someone else," Sheeran admitted. "I don't have pizazz. There's all of these amazing performers, I'm just not that.

"I'm not gonna have dancers on stage. I'm not gonna have fireworks and blah blah.

"I just can't, that's not me. I don't think that anyone wants to see me do the Super Bowl either."
