Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith are known as one of Hollywood's most beloved celebrity couples; they have been together for decades and their children are stars themselves.

The illusion of being "Hollywood royalty" has been shattered following the revelation that Smith and Pinkett Smith have been living separately for years now.

"We're still figuring it out," Pinkett Smith told People Magazine following her admission that she and her rapper slash actor husband have been separated since 2016.

"We've been doing some really heavy-duty work together. We just got deep love for each other and we are going to figure out what that looks like for us."

Furthermore, the actress also added that she and Smith are not divorced, but just living separately. They are, however, still full-time parents to their children.

In fact, Pinkett Smith noted that her children-Jaden, Willow, and Trey-are her sources of strength.

"My children, they're little gurus. They've taught me a deep sense of self-acceptance," she said. "They love every part of me.

"The level of love, unconditional love that they have for me and their dad. And it's one thing to want to be the person that gives that unconditional love. And then there's, to be the recipient of that."

According to reports, Pinkett Smith delved more into the separation and why they decided against having a divorce.

"I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get a divorce," the actress explained. "We will work through whatever. And I just haven't been able to break that promise."

Will Smith Slaps Chris Rock

Elsewhere in her interview, Pinkett Smith talked about the infamous Oscars Award altercation: her husband slapped Chris Rock which resulted in Smith getting banned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for 10 years.

"I thought, 'This is a skit,'" the actress explained. "I was like, 'There's no way that Will hit him.'"

The actress acknowledged that Smith still loves her very much, and it was pretty much shown through the resounding slap he gave the comedian.

However, she did not reveal what led to the separation or what would it take for them to either get back together or officially file for divorce.

"We've been doing some really heavy-duty work together. We just got deep love for each other and we are going to figure out what that looks like for us," she said.
