Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith were revealed to have been separated behind the scenes for a couple of years, and the actress' recent memoir "Worthy" revealed more about their complicated relationship.

"I applaud and honor you," Smith reportedly wrote in a letter to Jay Shetty, who relayed it to Pinkett Smith.

"If I had read this book 30 years ago, I definitely would have hugged you more. I'll start now. Welcome to the author's club. I love you endlessly. Now go get some Merlot and take a rest."

The actor slash rapper then reflected on his years-long relationship and the subsequent separation with Pinkett Smith, "When you've been with someone for more than half of your life a sort of emotional blindness sets in."

"You can all too easily lose your sensitivity to their hidden nuances and subtle beauties," he added.

Pinkett Smith's memoir will be released on Oct. 17, but days before it even hit shelves, the actress revealed a lot of information about her relationship with Smith, Tupac Shakur, and even the infamous Oscars slap incident with Chris Rock.

Among the bombshells that she dropped, the one that caught a lot of fans' attention was the fact that she and Smith have been living "completely separate lives" since 2016.

"I think we were both kind of just still stuck in our fantasy of what we thought the other person should be," Pinkett Smith explained.

"I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get a divorce. We will work through ... whatever. I just haven't been able to break that promise."

Smith and Pinkett Smith share two children biologically, Jaden and Willow.

Jada Pinkett Smith Moves Out of Home

On top of that, Pinkett Smith also noted that she moved out of their shared home and bought herself a home for her 50th birthday.

According to reports, the actress moved to Los Angeles from the home she and Smith shared in Calabasas, California.

"We wanted to create a family we never had, and we did that. And we enjoy our family," she continued. "For us, our marriage is like a cornerstone of that for now. Who knows in 10 years."

Additionally, she explained why she and Smith have neither filed for divorce yet, noting that they "tried everything to get away from each other" and yet they "just don't."
