Suzanne Somers bravely faced her health issues for decades before her death.

Somers died on Sunday, October 15, months after announcing that her breast cancer returned. She was first diagnosed with the dreaded illness in 2000 after previously dealing with hyperplasia and skin cancer.

Although she spent more than half of her life dealing with her health battles, Somers maintained a positive outlook on life and lived it to the fullest.

Suzanne Somers Lived Her Life To The Fullest Before Death

Somers expressed her determination to not let her disease affect her prior to her death.

"I've changed my life in that I am in control of my health and aging," she said, adding, "Long ago, I would have thought that 73 years would be too old to be doing yoga, but I find the contrary. Instead, I feel strong inside. That's one of the main things I like about it."

Somers started following a low-sugar, low-carbohydrate diet and consumed more toxin-free ingredients and healthy fats.

She noted that the natural effects of aging - inability to sleep, bloating, moodiness and health issues - can be rectified through foods.

Her husband, Alan Hamel, told Page Six in July that Somers dealt with cancer again.

"On June 6, she got an all-clear, but cancer is tricky, and we will now closely monitor everything going forward," he said at that time.

Hamel added that she would have lost her battle if she had not started her chemical-free and organic life - from getting more sleep to having an all-organic diet and removing foods and beauty products with chemicals.

Suzanne Somers Was Positive Before Her Demise

In an exclusive statement to Entertainment Tonight months prior to her passing, Somers expressed her gratitude for the love and support they received.

"It's a recurrence of my breast cancer," she revealed. "Like any cancer patient, when you get that's dreaded, 'It's back,' you get a pit in your stomach. Then I put on my battle gear and go to war. This is a familiar battleground for me and I'm very tough."

Her family will hold a private burial this week, while a memorial will be scheduled next month.
