They always say the best way to get through a break up is to keep working, and it seems as though that is exactly what Britney Spears is doing. Following her split last month from her boyfriend of one year, David Lucado, the Las Vegas resident has returned to the recording studio, presumably to make new music.

Yesterday (Sept. 4), Spears teased a new project and her time in the studio with a photo of herself hard at work on her Instagram page.

"Studio today! Yay!" she captioned the image.

Seen looking casual with her hair tied back, wearing a pink tank top and jeans, Spears can be seen flashing a peace sign next to some lyrics and a pack of smokes in a recording studio.

It's unknown what project Spears is working on, be it a standalone single or the first sessions for her Britney Jean follow-up, but it's sure to continue her path of releasing some of the catchiest pop music, especially in the wake of her recent split.

Spears and Lucado called it quits last month, after reported video footage of Lucado cheating on Spears surfaced. Spears' father reportedly bought the video and showed it to the "Perfume" singer, who then broke off the relationship. Spears confirmed that Lucado had been cheating on her in a recent performance of her Piece of Me show in Las Vegas.

Spears' new music will be the immediate follow-up to her eighth studio album Britney Jean, which was released in December 2013. The album spawned the singles "Work B***h" and "Perfume."
