Selena Gomez has been wrapped in controversy after controversy last week for her statements about the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas, but now she is trying to make things right by donating to provide medical care and resources to the "humanitarian crisis in Gaza" through Rare Beauty.

"We are devastated by the images and reports coming from the Middle East," the Rare Beauty account's post read.

Thousands of innocent Palestinian civilians have been killed in Israeli airstrikes and millions of civilians have been displaced and left without access to food, water, medicine or basic necessities for survival. A large number of these victims are children. Palestinian civilians must be protected, period."

Elsewhere in the statement, Rare Beauty notes that they will be "making donations to the International Red Cross/ Red Crescent Societies - Magen David Adom and Palestinian Red Crescent Society - who are providing urgent care on the ground."

Netizens React to Selena Gomez, Rare Beauty

While Rare Beauty expressed good intentions, several netizens pointed out the anomaly in the beauty brand's post that made their eyebrows rise: Magen David Adom.

"They're donating to Magen David Adom that's the Israeli emergency care. She's still supporting Israel," one wrote.

"Palestinians keep telling people to only donate to the Palestine Children's Relief Fund, because the money donated to other organizations, ESPECIALLY Israeli ones, is not used to help them.

"Magen David Adom is one of these Israeli organizations. Do NOT donate to them," a netizen added.

Meanwhile, others questioned the "Lose You to Love Me' singer's real motives for the donations.

"She isn't doing that because she cares about Palestine she just doesn't wanna get canceled lol."

"Now that people have noticed how much of a victim she is and that she doesn't care about these things, she's trying to pretend to be a good girl."

Selena Gomez Receives Backlash

The statement from Rare Beauty comes shortly after Gomez faced severe backlash from the Internet after issuing several statements about the conflict on her Instagram Story.

"I've been taking a break from social media because my heart breaks to see all of the horror, hate, violence, and terror that's going on in the world," she wrote in a now-deleted post.

"I'm sorry if my words will never be enough for everyone or a hashtag. I just can't stand by innocent people getting hurt. That's what makes me sick. I wish I could change the world. But a post won't. Love, Selena."

Netizens accused the singer of making the conflict "about herself," and being selfish, this resulted in Gomez deleting her account afterward.
