Pink is known to be a force in the music industry and a passionate activist and mother. In her upcoming Florida concert, Pink is making a big move and will be distributing thousands of banned books about race and sexuality amid the state's ban.

Notoriously, Florida has implemented laws limiting free speech in education, which includes the ban on teaching racism and sexuality education in schools and the workplace.

Pink Giving Away Thousands Of Race and Sexuality Books in Florida Concert

People Magazine confirmed that Pink is indeed giving away thousands of books about race and sexuality in her upcoming concert.

Pink started her Florida concert in Miami's Kaseya Center tonight. Tomorrow, Nov. 15, 2023, she will be at the Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise Florida, and on Orlando, Florida's Amway Center on Nov. 18 and Nov. 19, 2023.

PEN America is partnering with the Grammy-winning singer for their free expression advocacy organization, giving away thousands of banned books at her Florida concerts. They're looking at 1000 fans leaving the concerts with new copies of the said banned publications.

In a press release, Pink shared her enthusiasm in advocating for the very important cause and pressing problem.

"Books have held a special joy for me from the time I was a child, and that's why I am unwilling to stand by and watch while books are banned by schools," she revealed. "It's especially hateful to see authorities take aim at books about race and racism and against LGBTQ authors and those of color. We have made so many strides toward equality in this country and no one should want to see this progress reversed. This is why I am supporting PEN America in its work and why I agree with them: no more banned books."

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis Bans Books

According to Treasure Coast Palm News, GOP presidential candidate RonDeSantis has made parental rights one of his major key policies in his campaign. He signed the "Don't Say Gay" Bill in 2022, effectively barring discussion of sexual orientation and gender identity and expression in certain grades, which has been expanded in the K-12 program. He has also signed a bill banning books that included sexual conduct.

PEN America CEO Suzanne Nossel said in a statement that this trend of banning books is "censorship in its purest form."

"This is a wave that is taking over our counties, our schools, our libraries, they're going after books about children of color, stories about LGBTQ families, books about babies, about animals," she continued to say. "..It is meant to suppress narratives that we need here in a pluralistic society, and so we have to push back."
