Twitter went wild when the rumors of Nicki Minaj allegedly appearing on "The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes" soundtrack came about.
Although the pairing seemed unlikely, many people bought it. But turns out, it was actually Rachel Zegler, who accidentally spread the rumor.

In an interview with Jimmy Fallon on "The Tonight Show," Rachel Zegler opened up about how Nicki Minaj suddenly became intertwined with "The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes" soundtrack. (via JustJared)
"I accidentally started a rumor that Nicki Minaj was on the album for The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes. It is not true," she clarified.
Apparently, it was a callback that got misinterpreted by the Barbz, Nicki Minaj's loyal fanbase.
"But, it was one of those things where there's a character named Barb Azure in the movie. And the actress who plays Barb Azure has a great sense of humor. Her name is Honor Gillies. She's so fantastic and posted a video of Nicki Minaj saying, 'Calling all Barbz' when she got cast. And her character plays the standup bass in the movie so obviously I commented, 'Slappin' that super bass.' As you would," Rachel remembered.
As soon as she commented that, Barbz caught the whiff of it and started screenshotting it, posting it all over social media.
Zegler then admitted to becoming a Barb - "They are very, very, very dedicated and amazing. I am a Barb. I love Nicki. But she's not on the album."
To make it convincing, Nicki Minaj even played with the rumor with Zegler recalling that she posted a TikTok with "The Hanging Tree" song while also saying that something is coming out on November 17.
Notably, "The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes" will be released on November 17 worldwide, coinciding with Minaj's earlier announcement that "Pink Friday 2" will be released on the same date.

Nicki Minaj In 'Hunger Games' Soundtrack
When fans ran with the rumor, the Barbz suggested some lines that Nicki Minaj could use for her supposed soundtrack song.
"Hips tick tock like the arena, it's a clock. Put me in the games, 23 bullets in the glock. Pretty little braid and my waist on slim. Won the games now my socials blowing up like Prim," a fan suggested.
"shooting ARROWS that's why i stand like GNOMES, 40k on my neck that's how i wash these HOES," another commented.
Although Minaj won't be actually on "The Hunger Games: The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes" soundtrack, she will be releasing "Pink Friday 2" on Dec. 8, 2023.
