Earlier this year, there had been a great deal of speculation that huge artists were going to perform at King Charles III's coronation concert. The names of The Spice Girls, Harry Styles, Adele, Ed Sheeran, and even Elton John were thrown into the mix - all home-grown Britsh acts.

However, the British Royal Family were surprised that all of the mentioned acts had turned down their invitation - prompting them to extend the invitation to artists in the United States.

Apparently, they also sought the attention and the time of Taylor Swift, who was shattering and setting records in her sensational "The Eras" tour.

Pegged by the British Monarchy the event of the century, they thought that getting global popstar Taylor Swift would increase fanfare and elicit even more media attention to King Charles III's highly-awaited crowning moment.

Scobie claimed this in his new book, "Endgame: Inside the Royal Family and the Monarchy's Fight for Survival." However, he did not elaborate more on Swift's refusal to perform at the ceremony.

But looking at Swift's calendar, she was at the Nissan Stadium in Nashville, performing in front of a sold-out stadium with Phoebe Bridgers and Gayle.

No One Wants To Perform At King Charles III's Coronation Concert

At the time, many names were thrown into the mix to perform at King Charles III's coronation ceremony.

As mentioned, British acts similar (or near) to Taylor Swift's impact and influence were suggested. Ed Sheeran reportedly turned it down due to logistical concerns, Adele was busy preparing for her Las Vegas Residency, Elton John and Harry Styles were on tour, and The Spice Girls couldn't bring themselves together as a group.

"For them right now, storytelling is really important," one music PR company head told Rolling Stone in an interview. "These big symbolic associations carry a lot of weight and literally go down in history books in bold and underlined. I can understand why there'd be a big PR discussion around artists doing it or not."

Many music public relations specialists and managers pointed out that these artists are reluctant to associate themselves with the monarchy and the abuses and scandals that they have been associated with.

The British Royal Family ended up with Katy Perry, Lionel Richie, Andrea Bocelli, Nicole Scherzinger, and Take That. Ed Sheeran, who turned down the job, replaced Perry in "American Idol" at the time as a temporary judge.
