Are the Backstreet Boys reuniting soon?

Following the reunion of *NSYNC, fans spoke about Backstreet Boys doing the same in the next few months. The hotly anticipated reunion will follow the group's split in 2006, though their fans remained hopeful to see them again after the original members released the album, "DNA."

The supporting tour would see Backstreet Boys heading to different countries and venues across the Europe and North America, but it never happened.

Backstreet Boys Reunion Update

Speaking during an exclusive interview with The Mirror U.S., AJ McLean seemingly dismissed the claims as he confirmed that the members have been taking space from each other due to their well-needed break.

With that, a Backstreet Boys reunion is not on the cards - at least, not yet.

"We're taking about a year off, we have a couple of one off things coming up," he added. "We have our Cancun trip coming up next April, which essentially is like the Backstreet Boys cruise, except now it's a destination. So there's no boat involved. Now that we're taking a break, we're giving each other the space to do our own things."

McLean sparked reunion rumors after he and Nick Carter danced with Joey Fatone and Lance Bass for the group, Back-Synch.

AJ McLean Previously Shared Reunion Details

Previously, McLean told Buzzfeed that the Backstreet Boys and Spice Girls had been in talks to have a joint tour.

"If it ever [happens], I think it might be one of the most massive tours ever. People want us and NSYNC to go on the road together," he continued.

Still, he shared at that time that the members had moved on and started doing their things. But McLean reminded everyone that "you never know" whether a reunion would happen soon.

Meanwhile, Backstreet Boys member Howie Dorough once expressed his excitement to tour with *NSYNC, though he wanted his bandmates to be in their spotlight first.

"But like I say, we've always talked about, you know, the joint collaboration one day would be awesome," he told a news outlet. "They got to figure things out, what's right for them and just have to figure out what's right for him. And if it makes sense for them to do a tour together or your tour with us, whatever may or just a tour with whomever, they'll figure it out."
