Combining Tuesday's themes of pop stars acting mysteriously and '90s superstars jumping back in the spotlight, Britney Spears posted a curious countdown ticker on her website with the caption "ALL EYES ON ME."

The widget, which appeared at roughly 9:30 Tuesday morning, is continually counting down to (:30 A.M. on September 17, 28 days from now. What does it indicate? No one but Britney knows, but she indicated last week via Twitter that new music could be here soon.

"Patient kiddies! It's coming MUCH sooner than you think ; )" in response to a tweet from a Spears fan account promoting the "We Are Ready Britney" trend.

It hasn't been a secret that Spears has been working on new music, but fans have relatively little to see for it, considering the constant singles that some artists have released, and the leaks others have fallen victim to. The pop star had a hit with Will.i.am in the single "Scream & Shout," and she released an original track for the "Smurfs 2" soundtrack, titled "Ooh La La."

Producer Naughty Boy gave a quote on Monday that seemed to suggest that a new album is far from finished.

"It's not out for another couple of weeks, but we've just started working on tracks for her until the studio session," he said. Although nothing would surprise us in a world where Jay-Z can sit on a new album until two weeks before its release, it would surprise us if a pop star on Britney's level can start from scratch and release an album in less than a month. Plus, the timer counts down to 9:30 A.M., when a new album would be available for download at midnight. PLUS, an album titled "All Eyes On Me" might draw the ire of Tupac Shakur fans, as his most classic album is titled "All Eyez On Me."

Our guess: Expect a new single titled "All Eyes on Me." But we've been wrong before.

In other Britney news, her music will be combined with that of one Jesus Christ for new musical "Spears: The Gospel According to Britney."
