Taylor Swift's love life has been on display since she shot to fame. Her love interest had been examined by the press with great scrutiny, especially the men she had been in a relationship with.

Swift's love story coverage is as massive as the impact of her music and collaborations, which is why many are very interested and keen on knowing the full details of her personal endeavors.

Among the biggest speculations in Swiftie World is who had really broken up on Swift and Taylor Lautner's relationship - was it Lautner or Swift?

Taylor Lautner, Taylor Swift Breakup

Notably, Swift and Lautner met on the set of "Valentine's Day," a romance-comedy flick where they both starred as high-school lovers. Afterward, the two went on to date but they eventually broke up in 2009. Taylor Swift's song, "Back To December," was allegedly a track written for Lautner.

In an interview on Call Her Daddy, Lautner talked about "rekindling" his friendship with Taylor Swift all while with his wife, Taylor Dome.

"I think when you respect somebody for who they are, like in their soul, it allows you to move on, forgive and continue that love in a different way," Lautner admitted.

At one point, he confirmed a longstanding speculation that Taylor Swift was, in fact, the one who called it quits in their relationship.

"I'm thinking back on exactly what happened. But no, yeah, she did."

After the split, Lautner recalled being "friendly" with each other as they also continued to see every now and then. However, they fell out and didn't talk but Lautner maintained his "deepest respect for who she is as a person before anything else."

"Honestly I would say one of the greater things to happen in my life over the last year is the rekindling of our friendship," Lautner shared.

Taylor Lautner: The Best Taylor Swift Ex-Boyfriend?

Speaking to People Magazine, Taylor Lautner reacted to being called by Swifties as Taylor Swift's "Best Ex-Boyfriend."

"[That] sounds like a nice compliment to me. I will take it," he said about the honor bestowed by Swifties.

"She let me know that I'm the only ex without a diss track now," Lautner said with a laugh. "So that sounds like a nice thing. I'll take it and run. No complaints here."

To make things more hilarious on their side, her wife is also named Taylor - a "diehard" Swiftie. For Taylor Dome, Lautner's wife, "they're not even exes," as she considers her as their "friend."

Notably, Lautner appeared on Swift's "I Can See You" music video along with actress Joey King.
