Happy 55th Birthday Marilyn Monroe! To say that the rock star leads a controversial life is an understatement. For the past years, his name has been dragged into all sorts of lawsuits, it is hard to not think he's troubled, despite his talents.

If you want to understand him a bit more though, here are 7 weird facts about Manson outside of his rock star career that could somehow explain why he is no ordinary musician today.

He Grew Up With a Scary Grandfather 

Manson was born in Canton, Ohio, as Brian Hugh Warner. But instead of a quiet life, he had to grow up with a grandfather who was a sadomasochist and a bestial person. He disclosed this in his memoir. 

 

He Liked Music His Schools Did Not

Manson grew up attending Christian schools and churches. While Marilyn's school taught him what kind of music was inappropriate, he preferred that same genre, so he switched to a public high school.

He Can Write - No, NOT JUST Songs.

Marilyn studied journalism at Broward Community College in Fort Lauderdale and contributed articles to a music magazine. This means he could really write, especially about music. Marilyn made the decision that he wanted to be a musician after hearing The Doors.

 

He Has Makeup Preferences - Expensive Ones Too.

Marilyn does his makeup with a Christian Dior foundation.

He Can Act and Direct, Apart From Rocking Out

Marilyn does occasional acting in addition to her performances. His first major motion picture role was in the 1997 David Lynch film Lost Highway.

More recently, he appeared in Eastbound and Down and Sons of Anarchy. Marilyn has been working on a film on Lewis Carroll, the author of Alice in Wonderland, for years with the goal of directing it.

He's an Artist and an Art Connoisseur

Manson started painting with watercolors in 1999. It all began when he purchased a children's watercolor kit at a pharmacy. Painting with it helped him to relax. The Celebritarian Corporation Gallery of Fine Art is an art gallery owned by Marilyn in Los Angeles.

He has Simple Tastes in Food...and Maybe Even Liife.

Manson has a preference for sunny-side up eggs. Marilyn prefers peanut butter that is smooth to that that is chunky. Marilyn enjoys spending time alone with his cat, Lily White, when he needs it.

He's a Charity Man

Despite His Bad Rep, he Actually Supports A LOT of Charities Marilyn is a supporter of several charities, such as Little Kids Rock, Oxfam, and the Make-A-Wish Foundation. 

Last year, Manson faced some huge legal battles.
