Is Ryan Gosling Performing At The Oscars After Critics Choice Awards Win?

It is safe to say that Ryan Gosling was baffled when his song, "I'm Just Ken," won the 2024 Critics Choice Award for Best Original Song.

His reaction to the win, sparked a lot of memes and reactions from people on social media, with one saying that it is sinking in and that he may have to perform it at the upcoming Academy Awards.

The 2024 Critics Choice Awards was triumphant for "Barbie" who only snagged two awards at the 2024 Golden Globe Awards. The said show is considered another precursor to the upcoming 2024 Academy Awards by many fans, who say that the likely winners of the show, would have a high chance of being the winners of the highly-awaited awards show.

"I'm Just Ken," one of the standout songs on "Barbie," was nominated for the 2024 Critics Choice Award for Best Original Song along with Billie Eilish's "What Was I Made For?" and Dua Lipa's "Dance The Night." Ariana DeBose's "This Wish," "Peaches" from the "Super Mario Bros. Movie," and "Road To Freedom" from "Rustin'" were also nominated.

In one of the biggest shocks of the night, "I'm Just Ken," won against "What Was I Made For?" - a juggernaut in the said category during this year's awards circuit.

Gosling's face as Mark Ronson, the songwriter of the said song makes his way to the stage to accept the award.

Expectedly, Ronson gave his flowers to Gosling in the award.

"Ryan Gosling, this is as much your award as ours," Ronson said. "You made the audience fall in love with this song with your matchless performance, so thank you."

Will Ryan Gosling Be Performing At The Oscars?

As of this writing, it is not known yet whether he will be the one performing at the live telecast on Mar. 11, 2024, or if it will be Billie Eilish or Dua Lipa.

These are all just speculations given that the Academy Awards hasn't even released the list of Oscar nominees this year. However, the three songs wouldn't all be nominated for the Academy Awards as rules say that only a maximum of two songs from each film can be nominated for the same award.

In the past, Gosling has addressed whether he would be open to performing the song at the Oscars telecast.

"Well, I haven't been invited but thanks for pointing that out," he admitted. "What do you get paid to sing at the Oscars? They pick you up at least, right? You don't have to self-drive?"

The 2024 Academy Award nominees will be announced on Jan. 23, 2023.
