"Shucked" is one of the biggest Broadway shows of the season and while it is saddening that they bowed for the last time, good things are coming!

The said Broadway production is heading for a National Tour and to the big screen!

'Shucked' Movie Coming Soon?

As the original Broadway cast of "Shucked" took their final bow at the Nederlander Theatre, a new wave of corn will come crashing soon.

Representatives of "Shucked" have confirmed to Variety that a film adaptation of the Broadway musical is "being set up" with Mandalay Pictures, the same picture studio that recently produced the Golden Globe-nominated film "Air."

"Air" producer Jason Berman, Jordan Moldo, and Alan Fox will be producing the said "Shucked" film.

"We're all a little sad to say goodbye to this. But there's some good news," "Shucked" producer Mike Bosner said in a statement during the curtain call. "We don't have to say goodbye just yet. Because I'm happy to announce that we will be making a feature film of 'Shucked'."

Playwright Robert Horn, who was nominated for a Tony Award for Best Book of a Musical for "Shucked," will be writing the screenplay for the upcoming movie adaptation of the musical.

Horn will also be serving as an executive producer, along with Brandy Clark and Shane McAnally who composed the music for the Broadway production. Clark and McAnally were both nominated for Tonys but only won a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Music.

As of this writing, no casting has been revealed yet. However, many have already pitched Alex Newell to reprise her role of Lulu in the upcoming film.

Alex Newell recently won a Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Musical, making him the first Non-Binary winner in the said category. Variety reported that Newell received a rousing three-minute standing ovation for his performance of "Independently Owned."
