German musician and composer Frank Farian has died at the age of 82, his agency confirmed.

Farian's agency, Allendorf Media, released a statement confirming the famed electronic music producer's passing. He reportedly died peacefully at his Miami, Fla., home on Tuesday, January 23.

What Was Frank Farian's Cause of Death?

The statement did not disclose Farian's cause of death, but he died years after undergoing a procedure for a heart valve transplant.

In 2022, he told the German newspaper Bild that the heart valve replacement surgery allowed his doctors to insert a pig heart valve into his chest as his own valve had shrunk because of his age. The procedure reportedly saved his life.

A year later, he shared an update with the same media outlet.

"My heart valve works wonderfully. Mick Jagger also received exactly the same heart valve," Farian continued. "I have a good pig in me! And I'm very grateful for that."

The Evening Standard soon reported that Farian's condition worsened over time after the procedure, with the musician losing weight and becoming dependent on a wheelchair.

Amid his health setbacks, his former partner Ingrid "Milli" Segieth paid him a visit in Miami over the New Year. She disclosed how physically weak Farian had become but still had a lot of energy.

According to Segieth, Farian was still sitting in his studio to work on new music.

Details about his funeral and memorial have yet to be released.

Remembering Frank Farian

Farian started his music career through the band he formed, Frankie Boys Schatten. They released their single, "Shouting Ghost," but the project flopped in the end.

He did not stop pursuing his dreams then, and he soon garnered attention for releasing a cover of Otis Redding's "Mr. Pitiful." It opened the doors for him as a solo performer and allowed him to become part of different programs.

Farian's popularity spiked from there, pushing him to release more songs and covers. His "Was kann schöner sein?" - the German language cover of Lynsey de Paul/Ron Roker song "When you've Gotta Go" - made it to the Top 100 all-time.

Farian's career also evolved around Boney M. Far Corporation, Milli Vanilli, No Mercy, Eruption, La Bouche and Le Click.
