  • Iron Maiden Rereleasing Every '80s Album and Single on Vinyl, from 'The Number of The Beast' to 'Live After Death'

Heavy metal fan? Do you prefer vinyl to other formats? You're in luck come this Fall. Iron Maiden has announced that it will be rereleasing all of its '80s albums on 180-gram vinyl, including the classic Live After Death performance album. Considering that the busy band put out seven albums during the decade, that's a lot for one metalhead to take in.
  • 14 Albums That End With Their Longest Song: Bruce Springsteen, Weezer, And More

Long songs can be tricky for an artist to deal with. They can't really be released as singles, but they also run the risk of ruining the flow of an otherwise great album. These artists got around this problem by placing their extremely long songs at the end of their album.
  • 8 Album Titles Inspired By Literature: The Roots, Iron Maiden, And More

I've previously written about bands that named themselves after works of literature, but some artists have chosen to boast their literary credentials in other ways. Here are eight album titles that were inspired by literary works.
  • 8 Bands That Never Appear On Album Covers: Radiohead, The Strokes, And More

Though finding bands that didn't appear on their own album covers was a pretty difficult task back in the '50s and '60s, bands have explored many different styles of album artwork as time progressed. Here are eight bands that have never appeared on their album covers.
  • 7 Musicians Who Have Rejoined Their Bands: Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and more

Line-up changes are common within huge rock bands, but after someone leaves a band, it's very rare for them to ever rejoin. Here are seven musicians who rejoined their bands after leaving.
  • 6 Artists With a Running Theme In Their Album Covers: The Smiths, Iron Maiden, and more

Though artists are constantly morphing and experimenting, many like to keep a consistent theme running through their music and visual aesthetic. These six artists took this idea of visual consistency to heart, creating album covers that immediately identify an album as one of theirs.
  • 5 Musicians Who Pointlessly Went Solo

There are plenty of good reasons for an artist to release a solo album. Maybe their band broke up, or maybe they want to write some songs in a different style. However, sometimes musicians go ahead and release solo music that could have been easily been released with their band. Here are five musicians who didn't need to go solo.
  • 7 Achingly Beautiful Songs By Metal Bands: Iron Maiden, Black Sabbath, and more

Heavy metal is a lot of things to a lot of people: brutal, exhilarating, cathartic, but "beautiful" isn't really one of the first words to come to mind when describing a metal song. This doesn't mean that metal bands are incapable of writing beautiful songs, though. Here are seven incredibly beautiful songs written by metal bands.
  • Bruno Mars and Rihanna top 'most pirated' performers of 2013 list

Looking at a performer's sales is one way to judge who's the biggest name in music. Another way is to check out who's been illegally downloaded the most. Data analysts Musicmetric have looked into the latter and concluded that Bruno Mars and Rihanna are the most tormented performers in the world. Where that places them among the most popular is up to you.
  • Iron Maiden's tours use analytics to make cash off of illegal downloading

Heavy metal is not a genre that's been very PR-friendly in terms of the battle against illegally downloaded music. Metallica (yeah, we know the technical term is 'thrash') is the most notorious of all performers for its lawsuit against Napster. Iron Maiden however has found a way to turn a profit off of all that stolen music.
  • Avenged Sevenfold Graduates from Metal to Heavy Metal (Finally) on 'Hail To The King' [REVIEW]

Avenged Sevenfold has awkwardly held a middle-ground between its old melodic thrash, and its new heavy metal approach. They finally commit, thankfully, on "Hail To The King."
