• Kirk Hammett Books 3 Rock Superstars for 'Fear FestEvil' and None of Them Are From Metallica

Metallica's Orion Fest may not have succeeded on a financial level enough to justify future versions, but guitarist Kirk Hammett and his "Kirk von Hammet''s Fear FestEvil" will have a second run in San Jose during April. The thrash icon and horror movie enthusiast has announced a lineup for the three-day event, although the characters he's booked for a panel may be even more exciting than the confirmed musicians: Slipknot's Corey Taylor, Rob Zombie guitarist John 5 and Slash will all appear in speaking roles.
  • John 5 & The Creatures Announce US Tour [SCHEDULE]

You might know John 5 as the guitarist for Rob Zombie, but the gnar-shredding 43-year-old also has his own project John 5 & The Creatures. He has pumped out eight solo albums, including 2014's "Careful with That Axe." Now, he is headed out on the road to give several new songs their live debuts. ANTI Music reports J5 & TC will be hitting up much of the southwest this February with a 12-date tour kicking off in Ramona, California, Feb. 8. John 5 made a point to mention that the tour will focus on newer songs from Careful, but will not leave out content from his first three albums "Vertigo," "Songs for Sanity" and "The Devil Knows My Name." The Michigan native has always branched out musically on his solo stuff, and he began using country picking on his 2004 debut. "A lot of people enjoy the country picking because they don't hear it all the time," he told guitar.com. "Whenever an instrumental thing comes out, we know what it's going to sound like. But I really enjoy playing like that, and I promised myself when I first did it, 'I'm gonna do some country picking on here. I don't know if anybody will like it, but I'm gonna do it, and see what happens.' And people really enjoy it." Check out the tour dates below, via ANTI:
