    As if Chelsea FC didn't already have enough trouble this season, a training session allegedly featured a fight of some sort between two of the team's stars, Diego Costa and Oscar. According to reports about the Premier League footballers, a hard tackle on Diego Costa from Oscar caused the altercation, which comes only a few days before the team's FA Cup third round match against Scunthorpe United. Interim manager Guus Hiddink is expected to answer questions concerning this incident in his pre-match press conference.

    "Unbroken" may only be the second film Angelina Jolie has ever directed, but she set the bar ridiculously high for herself and was therefore expecting to be acknowledged. According to a report by Page Six, she is upset she and "Unbroken" were overlooked. Sources close to the voting system claim that if it was a few years ago, her star power would have been enough to get a nod or two from the foreign press. This year has been packed with great projects, and the press felt that, comparatively, "Unbroken" was not good enough. Not measuring up is unfamiliar territory for Jolie, so no wonder she is upset by the snub. She does still have a chance to grab an Oscar nomination, though. Those will be announced Thursday morning, Jan. 15, and Jolie is likely looking for some validation that her work is worthy of the Academy's acknowledgment this year.

The ladies took a bunch of questions and Kendrick admitted that the fact that Aniston was producing and acting in "Cake" played a major part in her deciding to do the film. According to "The Hollywood Reporter," Aniston has only just begun to get her feet wet in the role of producing and it is a process that excites her, possibly more than acting. "That's a bug that gets you once you do it. We're just waiting for the proper window of time and the proper piece of material. There has been a beautiful project that was about to happen that ended up falling apart for all sorts of reasons. ... Maybe it's being a control freak, I don't know, but wanting to be a part of a seed and seeing it turn into something wonderful is exciting. It's fun to explore other areas of our industry other than being an actor-for-hire. It's quite fulfilling," explained Aniston.

In fact, it was the overwhelmingly positive response to it that prompted producers to rush to get it out this year, making it eligible for this current awards cycle rather than risking it getting lost at the beginning of next year's films. No one is likely more surprised by this nomination than Aniston herself. In recent weeks she has gotten a bit giddy just thinking about the fact that people were mentioning that "Cake" could be award-worthy. The actual nomination probably means almost as much as taking home the trophy would for the woman who, at least up until now, has been best known for her role as Rachel Green on "Friends."

She has even shown up for various parties that are considered necessary to attend if you want the Academy to take you seriously.

    Sad news this morning as we have learned that Mike Nichols, one of the all-time greats of American filmmaking, has died at the age of 83. Nichols, who directed films such as "The Graduate," "Primary Colors" and "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?," was married to ABC news anchor Diane Sawyer. It was the head of ABC News, Jeff Goldston, who broke the news this morning in a staff note that read: "I am writing with the very sad news that Diane's husband, the incomparable Mike Nichols, passed away suddenly on Wednesday evening. In a triumphant career that spanned over six decades, Mike created some of the most iconic works of American film, television and theater — an astonishing canon ranging from "The Graduate," "Working Girl" and "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?" to "Closer," "Charlie Wilson's War," "Annie," "Spamalot," "The Birdcage" and "Angels in America." He was a true visionary, winning the highest honors in the arts for his work as a director, writer, producer and comic and was one of a tiny few to win the EGOT — an Emmy, a Grammy, an Oscar and a Tony."
