    Last year, Jack White's Third Man Records teamed up with guitarist John Fahey's Revenant Records to release The Rise and Fall of Paramount Records, Vol. 1 (1917-1927), a six-LP set compiling remastered recordings from legendary blues label Paramount Records. Today, Rolling Stone reports that the collection's second volume, titled The Rise and Fall of Paramount Records, Volume 2 (1928-1932), is set for release on Nov. 18.

Released in 1994, 'Vitalogy's' previous record stood uncontested for 20 years. 'Lazaretto's' vinyl sales account for 25 percent of the total 238,000 copies sold.

    One of my favorite genres of music is lo-fi, or "low-fidelity," meaning artists who record their songs onto cheap equipment. Though most lo-fi artists are DIY musicians who work outside of the mainstream and use cheap equipment out of necessity, there are still some highly successful rock stars that have chosen to go lo-fi for aesthetic reasons, or simply out of convenience. Here are six lo-fi albums that were recorded by big rock stars.

    Jack White has announced his latest solo album, the follow up to 2012's Grammy-nominated Blunderbuss. Entitled Lazaretto, the effort is due out June 9 in the UK and June 10 in the US via his label Third Man Records. Along with the announcement, White released a "first taste" of the album called "High Ball Stepper," a gritty instrumental track preceding the first single and title track "Lazaretto," which is due out later this month.

    The Dead Weather announced in late August that they were back in the studio. Today Third Man Records announced what the band has planned. According to the press releases, Jack White, Alison Mosshart, Dean Fertita and Jack Lawrence will record and release two new songs on 7" vinyl as part of a singles release series. The band will do this in sets of two until 2015 at which time they will release a full-length album containing the previously released singles as well as "many more album-only tracks."
