The dictionary says that a cottage is "a small house especially in the country." Apparently, the definition of small is up to interpretation when you're talking real estate. Trisha Yearwood's "cottage" in Brentwood, Tennessee is a whopping 6,553 square feet with 5 bedrooms and 6 baths.

She first put the property up for sale in March of this year for $2,200,000. After five month, she dropped the price by a little over $200,000, leaving it with an asking price of $1,999,000.

The historic 2-story home was built in 1920 and it sits on four acres. The entire lot is gated with two separate entrances and there is a detached garage for parking. The eat-in kitchen, which was made famous on Trisha's cooking show and features an island big enough to nearly park a car on, opens to the pool. The master suite, also downstairs, features his and her separate baths and french doors that lead to a private deck. Beautiful hardwood floors, custom millwork throughout and fireplaces in all of the right places top off the perfect package.

When she put the property on the market, Trisha talked about why she was selling after 14 years with Cindy Watts from The Tennessean. She explained that since her husband, Garth Brooks, owns acreage north of Nashville, she felt like it didn't "make sense to have all of it."

What makes sense aside, Yearwood called the decision "bittersweet." She said, "I haven't lived in it consistently (for a while) but when I've been in Nashville, which is a good bit, that's where I always stay. It's been a wonderful safe haven for me. It's a great house and everybody that I know is like, 'Oh, I love that house.' And I'm like, 'I know but someone should be living in it all the time and enjoying it.' So, it's time to do it."

With a 20% down payment of $399,800, a 30-year fixed rate mortgage (4.23%) will calculate to monthly payments of around $10,000 (including taxes and insurance). The listing agent offers a virtual tour that will allow potential buyers to see much of the house without every stepping foot onto the property.
