DJ Akademiks on Sunday urged 50 Cent to stop publicly mocking Diddy over an alleged sex tape involving model Daphne Joy that circulated online, saying the commentary is harmful and that those involved deserve privacy.
HotNewHipHop reported that the alleged tape, which social media users widely shared over the weekend, reportedly features Diddy and adult performer Sly Diggler. Daphne Joy has publicly identified herself in connection with the material and has alleged it was recorded without her consent, according to separate posts and reports. Joy is the mother of 50 Cent's son, Sire.
On a livestream, DJ Akademiks criticized 50 Cent's reaction to the leak, telling the rapper to step back. Akademiks argued that the focus on Diddy's body and on humiliating commentary distracts from the more serious issues raised by a nonconsensual recording and creates collateral damage for people not responsible for the leak.
Akademiks said on his show that even if the things being said are true, that's not the point, later adding that 50 Cent should consider the impact of the public insults on others, including his young son. Akademiks also suggested that the situation had broader implications about humiliation and accountability in public disputes.
50 Cent, known for provocative posts and taunts, has publicly commented on the alleged tape and posted mocking messages about Diddy since the clip emerged. He also expressed concern in a post about the effect the controversy could have on his son, calling the boy "the real victim" in the matter.
The dispute adds to a long history of public exchanges between 50 Cent and Diddy that have included social media barbs and industry maneuvering. Legal and privacy advocates have warned that distributing intimate recordings without consent can carry criminal and civil consequences, and that online amplification intensifies the harm.
Representatives for Diddy and 50 Cent did not immediately respond to requests for comment Sunday evening. Daphne Joy's public statements on the matter have emphasized consent and the trauma such incidents can cause; she has sought privacy amid the coverage.
Recently, according to India Times coverage, DJ Akademiks weighed in on the viral nightclub confrontation between streamer Clavicular (Braden Eric Peters) and rapper DaBaby, warning the young content creator about challenging established rap artists.
The dispute reportedly began after Clavicular claimed members of DaBaby's team brought firearms into Miami's Bacara nightclub despite the venue's no-weapons policy. Videos showed Clavicular attempting to stop DaBaby's performance and arguing with members of the rapper's entourage, but DaBaby continued performing.
During a livestream, Akademiks cautioned Clavicular not to underestimate DaBaby, describing the rapper as a bad man and suggesting that dealing with major hip-hop figures is very different from handling internet personalities. The incident comes shortly after Clavicular resolved a separate misdemeanor firearm-related case in Florida.
