Fans of the rebooted version of Dallas that has aired on TNT for the last few season are not going to be happy with the powers-that-be who decided that the show will not be returning for a fourth. The show was originally painted as a continuation of the long-running nighttime soap that ran on CBS for 14 seasons. In addition to introducing viewers' to new characters the network also tapped into Dallas' rich family history and brought back Larry Hagman, Patrick Duffy and Linda Gray to reprise their original characters. While the reboot never reached the same level of success as the original, it held its own in the ratings, raking in an average of 4.5 million viewers during season one.

In announcing the cancellation the network said,

"TNT has decided not to renew 'Dallas.' We are extremely proud of the series, which defied expectations by standing as a worthy continuation of the Ewing saga. We want to thank everyone involved with the show, from the extraordinary cast to the impeccable production team, led by the show's creative forces, Cynthia Cidre and Mike Robin. We especially want to thank the people of Dallas for their warm and generous hospitality during the production of the series."

Larry Hagman may have been best known for his role as J.R. Ewing and it was no secret that his untimely death in the middle of season two left producers scrambling to rewrite story-lines while trying to fill the void that he left. Somehow the show manage to continue on with a decent level of success. Sadly fans will never know what happens to some of their favorites because the cliffhanger that ended season 3 will also close out the series.
