So we've got some updates on the Sankeys Brooklyn saga. A few weeks ago we reported that the newly opened chapter of the esteemed British nightclub would be closing its Brooklyn location after a mere three weeks. Representatives from Sankeys reported that the franchisees in New York were totally ill-prepared to run such an establishment but a new statement from those aforementioned organizers report that a club will in fact operate at the location under the new title OPEN.

Antonio Piacquadio, the managing director for Ibiza United—the franchisees that Sankeys had displayed displeasure with—gave a statement refuting the company's former business partner's claims.

"Due to the false and misleading statements by our licensor in their most recent press release and the unsuccessful launch of Sankeys Brooklyn (without our operational or musical input), Ibiza United has decided to sever its ties with the Sankeys organization in the United States," he said in a statement to the press.

Regardless of which party is in the wrong here, we suspect that Sankeys was actually first in the severing of ties bit.

The opening of the venue under its new name will occur Saturday morning from 6 a.m. until noon as the official afterparty of the nearby club Time Warp. The plan is for Open to open its doors on Fridays and Saturdays for the time being, emphasizing local talent behind the turntable/soundboard.

Sankeys claims the original concept went kaput because the partners "were unprofessional on an operational, promotional and musical level." We'll see how well Open operates before we make any conclusion on who was ultimately to blame in Sankeys Brooklyn's fall.
