A new list ranking the wealthiest recording artists has surfaced recently and Madonna is in the number one spot. The "Like a Virgin" singer beat out Paul McCartney, Dr. Dre and Sean "Diddy" Combs with an estimated net worth of $800 million, Wealth-X reports. Other notable stars on the list include Bono, Celine Dion and Elton John.

Jay-Z and Beyoncé both made the cut, with Hova pulling in a little more than his wife. Together, the pair is worth upwards of $950 million. McCartney came in second with a net worth of $660 million followed by Beats co-founder, Dr. Dre, with $650 million and music mogul Diddy with $640 million. Check out the full list below.

In 2013, the New York Post reported that Madonna had made the jump from millionaire to billionaire. According to Wealth-X's list, she's still $200 million shy of that label.

McCartney is the oldest artist on the list at 72. Beyoncé is the youngest at 33.

Madonna's wealth in recent years has come from her 2012 release MDNA. While the album performed well on the charts behind singles like "Girl Gone Wild," "Masterpiece" and "Turn up the Radio," it was her following tour that really generated some dough for the Queen of Pop. The MDNA Tour grossed more than $305 million, Billboard notes. Her 2008 Sticky & Sweet Tour is her highest-grossing jaunt, bringing in more than $408 million.
