Breakups after a longterm relationship can be so rough, especially if you still have to work with your ex! It seems that things on the set of The Vampire Diaries is never really normal. Either former lovers Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev look a little too close for comfort or else they are so icy that everyone else on set cannot help but notice. That is what happens when you dump your girlfriend of a few years and then hook up with her best friend -- in this case, Nikki Reed. Things on set may be a mess, but the TV stars are still emotionally invested in each other.
It was tough enough for Dobrev to come to terms with the fact that her friend broke girl code and began dating her ex, but when Somerhalder and Reed announced their engagement, all bets were off. Dobrev is either draped over some random new guy or she seems to be taking thinly veiled, passive-aggressive shots at the two people she once loved. According to a report by Hollywood Life, when Somerhalder directed a recent episode and had to physically maneuver Dobrev, she barely even responded to him.
This tidbit comes on the heels of hearing that the former lovebirds were getting all touchy-feely at work just a few short weeks ago. While Reed may have the rock on her finger, it is pretty clear that there is unresolved stuff still between Somerhalder and Reed -- otherwise, working together would not be so awkward. Also, it is probably a safe bet that after Reed heard about her man getting a little too hands-on with his ex, she laid down the law regarding Dobrev.
