What would summer be without some of rock's elder statesmen getting together and touring? This year the trio consists of Def Leppard, Styx and Tesla. There will be more than enough chances to catch the bands, as they will be on the road from June until October. The North American tour kicks off in Tampa, Florida, and will wrap 47 gigs later in Bismarck, North Dakota, Billboard noted.

These bands may be getting older, but they still embark on some pretty hefty treks. Def Leppard teamed up with Kiss last summer, while Styx and Tesla have been jamming onstage every chance they get. It is nice to see the guys from Styx branching out from usual tour buddies REO Speedwagon, too. There is always next year ...

Def Lep lead singer Joe Elliott had nothing but nice things to say about both supporting acts. The "Pour Some Sugar on Me" band has been on the road with Styx in recent years, but it has been a while since they toured with Tesla -- 1987, in support of Hysteria.

Tickets for the shows go on sale Feb. 20. Visit Def Lep's website for more information.
