Kanye West has a long history with Austin's South by Southwest (SXSW) music festival. From making a surprised performance at a 2 Chainz show in 2012 to performing with Jay Z at last year's edition, Kanye seems to time his new material perfectly with showcasing it at the annual Texas summit.

Rumors emerged Thursday that West will appear at this year's SXSW. But that's not all. Fellow hip-hop superstars Drake and J. Cole are also expected to take part in the festivities.

J. Cole will headline Dreamville Takeover on Saturday, Mar. 21, it was announced. His 2014 album, Forest Hills Drive, was well-received and it's a big splash that he'll be in Austin.

That leaves us wondering if/when Kanye West and Drake will be hitting the stage. SXSW party tracker @SXSWISLIFE was first with the rumor:

Just what do Kanye and Drake have in store? The rumor is the two could be performing together, which would be quite the marquee event.

Kanye has been dropping surprises as of late, including one in London on Tuesday that was announced via the @LiveNationUK Twitter account on the day of the show. On Monday, Kanye lectured students at Oxford University Museum of National History, giving some people hope that he could be a keynote speaker during SXSW.

It's already been a whirlwind 2015 for Kanye. He took a shot at Beck winning a GRAMMY over Beyonce, announced the title of his new album and has also announced the first joint tour date with Rihanna. This seems to be a yearly occurrence with Kanye, build fast momentum right as Austin's big festival begins. Who can blame him? It seems to have worked out quite nicely.
