While Brian Williams may currently be off the air due to a six-month suspension by NBC, he has spent the last few months willingly pulling out of other previously scheduled appearances. The latest is the Lincoln Awards which will honor those supporting U.S. veterans and their military families. While Williams was originally expected to host the even and give a taped introduction to the festivities, we've now learned that Michelle Obama will instead now be doing the honors.

According to a report by Page Six, "Williams was set to host the inaugural Lincoln Awards, which are scheduled to air Friday on PBS. The concert was filmed in January, featuring appearances by Nick Jonas, Gavin DeGraw and Jerry Lewis. Lincoln Awards co-founder Cappy McGarr says Williams asked to be removed from the PBS broadcast because he didn't want to be a distraction," explains an insider.

The fallen news man is more than halfway through his six month suspension from NBC Nightly News and he still is opting to fly beneath the radar rather than even try to live a normal life. While it was originally believed that the network was intending to bring Williams back once his punishment was over, NBC seems to have backed away from that idea. In fact in recent weeks there have been rumors that the network was actually leaking details of many of Williams' lies that they have uncovered, in the hopes that he would decide to resign from his position.

So far it doesn't look like Williams has any intention of walking away from his prized seat without a fight, but eventually he'll have to start showing his face in public again, right? Do you think that Williams has any real hope in revising his career after his suspension is up? Tell us your thoughts in the comments below!
