On April 5, 2014, Aaron Tippin will perform at the Chattanooga Zombie RunDown after party. Great music, family fun, plenty of beer and zombies! What more could anyone ask for?
The Zombie Rundown includes a very intense 5K obstacle (military style)/mud run that finds zombies chasing runners - not to eat them, but to pull their flags from them. In this timed race, a runners lost flag adds minutes to their overall time. For the zombies, the more flags they can grab from the runners, the better their chances for prizes at the end of the run.
If being chased by zombies in a timed run isn't your thing, the one mile Family Fun Walk/Run may be right up your alley. The Fun Walk is open to everyone (children included) and it allows participants to be a part of the action without the competitive edge (or the zombies!). The Fun Walk entry fee is only $5 and all proceeds will be donated to the Ronald McDonald House.
At the end, zombies, runners and walkers alike will be treated to great music from country star Aaron Tippin, food and beer from local vendors, sponsor demonstrations, local business vendors and fun activities for all ages.
The Run:
The race course at Old McDonald's Farm comes complete with military boot camp like obstacles that test both strength and endurance. Runners will come in contact with 11 natural and man-made obstacles.
The Human runs the race with a flag football belts. Each belt contains 3 flags. The number of flags represent health stages from being perfectly Human (3 flags) to perfectly Zombie (0 flags). Each flag will represent time at the finish line. 1 flag removed adds 30 seconds. The second flag adds 1 minute. The final flag will add 2 minutes. Overall, all 3 flags will add a total of 2.5 minutes to the runner's end time.
The Zombies will be stationed along the race course trying to "recruit" runners into the wonderful world of Walking Death by grabbing their flags. The zombie with the most flags (one flag capture per runner) at the end of the race will win a prize.
