To the dismay of Sheerios around the world, Ed Sheeran decided to leave his musical career behind for a while to take on other endeavors like a recurring role on Kurt Sutter's The Bastard Executioner and launching his own label, Gingerbread Man Records. The break isn't undeserved, seeing as how the X singer notched a #1 album, performed 179 tour dates and has an impending concert film on the way. Now all he wants to do is ditch his phone and go into the wilderness next year.

Taking care of his fans, Sheeran made sure to drop one last track before saying goodbye to music for a bit as the upcoming 2015 MTV European Music Awards host released "Lay It All On Me," his collaborated track with Rudimental, Entertainment Weekly notes. After that, the "Thinking Out Loud" singer announced he'd break from the spotlight starting January 1.

"My plan is to get rid of my iPhone, get rid of Internet, get a Nokia 3310 and just go off into the wilderness somewhere for a bit," he told MTV News. "Even if it's just a month without contact with other people." Losing the phone would be a huge weight off for Sheeran who is constantly glued to his screen sending texts and answering emails.

"I've got to a point where I just don't want to do that anymore and that's my life and my career," he explained. "But when I'm in my time off and I don't have to do it, I'm just going to get rid of it."

Just like everyone else, the ginger-haired singer has a small case of FOMO. In the event of leaving technology behind, Sheeran fears that he'll miss important plans but explains that if his friends don't understand his need to disconnect for a bit, maybe they aren't as good of friends as he thought.
