Ed Sheeran broke the hearts of diehard Sheerios around the world when he announced that he would refrain from releasing new music for a while but he made sure to divulge that information as he prepared for one last hit, his collaboration with Rudimental titled "Lay It All On Me."

The X singer and the British electronic group dropped an easy-listening, catchy EDM track which mixes Sheeran's enchanting vocals with a throbbing, dance-leaning beat. "If you're scared when you're out on your own just remember me / 'cause I won't let you go it alone / Lay it all on me / No you don't have to keep it under lock and key because I will never let you down / And if you can't escape all your uncertainties / Baby, I can show you how," the "Thinking out Loud" singer croons on the tune, to be featured on Rudimental's sophomore album, We the Generation, due out Oct. 2.

"It was an idea that we had a while before we toured with Ed. We played it for him on the tour bus and he loved it and we came back and finished it together in London," Rudimental explained to BBC Radio. "We've been through a lot of ups and downs the last few years of touring and saying goodbye to family and missing home, so it's a song about sticking together and brotherhood."

This collaboration doesn't mark the first time Piers Agget, Amir Amor, Kesi Dryden and DJ Locksmith have worked with Sheeran -- they've put their heads together previously when the group helped remix the singer's "Bloodstream."

For everyone calling Sheeran's bluff on his latest "this is the last song I'm releasing until my third album" announcement, he confirmed yet again that he's embarking on a long-awaited break as he joked about jumping into the catering business.
