Eminem, who recently bagged his very first Emmy Award, recalled a particular moment in his life when his one foot is already at the door.

His longtime manager, Paul Rosenberg, was a key person at that point in time - weary if one of the greatest rappers would finally succumb to death. Elsewhere in the interview, he pointed out a particular song in which he thought Eminem suffered significant damage.

Eminem Suffered Brain Damage After Overdose?

Eminem was at death's door in 2007 due to a fatal overdose.

Speaking to Paul Pod's podcast on SiriusXM's Shade45, Rosenberg and Eminem recalled that particular moment in their life and the aftermath of that encounter.

Thankfully, he recovered and it had to be stabilized with a few medications.

"You literally were coming off of an overdose, and they had to sort of stabilize you with a few medications. And some of them took you a minute to adjust to - let's just leave it at that. So, you're learning how to rap again almost literally, right? Because it's the first time, probably, you were creating without having substances in your body in... however many years, right," Rosenberg recalled.

Billboard reported that Eminem even recalled that Rosenberg was asking the medical team if he would still return to rap or suffering any brain damage after the near-death experience.

At the time, Rosenberg feared about the first song that Eminem created after the overdose, "Detroit Basketball." Turns out, it was the first song that Eminem wrote after being sober after his hospitalization.

"I remember when it first got sober and all the s-t was out of my system I remember being really happy. Everything was like f-king new to me again," Eminem said at the time.

Eminem's Emmy Win

Eminem recently bagged his first Emmy win for "The Pepsi Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show Starring Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar and 50 Cent." He won a statuette for Outstanding Variety Special (Live).

He is a Tony away from achieving EGOT status. He already bagged an Oscar for Best Original Song and a GRAMMY for his robust discography.

Should Marshall Mathers decide to secure a Tony, he could probably win it with a production credit, or if he feels quite challenging, a performance role.
