Following his arrest in July, Mystikal plead not guilty to a myriad of charges against him, including first-degree rape, simple criminal damage to property, false imprisonment, possession of drugs and drug paraphernalia.

The 51-year-old rapper was arraigned at Ascension Parish court in Gonzales, Louisiana, reports say.

"My client doesn't even do drugs, so he has absolutely no idea what they were talking about," said Joel Pearce, Mystikal's attorney, in a telephone interview.

The Grammy-nominated rapper was accused of raping and choking a woman at his Louisiana home. The grocery list of his charges detailed that he was in possession of heroin, Xanax, methamphetamine, and marijuana.

According to the Daily Mail, Mystikal was arrested on July 30 in connection with the incident, and according to Pearce, he was not able to get a copy of the two indictments but noted that they were read aloud in court.

Almost A Decade Ago

According to Pearce, the Oct. 17 hearing will see about Mystikal's bond, added that they planned to bring up the rapper's 2003 case wherein he pleaded guilty to sexual battery and extortion, the Associated Press reported.

The 2003 case revolved around a woman who claimed that the rapper accused her of stealing $80,000 of his checks, however, prosecutors noted that the woman denied stealing from the rapper.

To make up for this alleged theft, Mystikal suggested that she do some "degrading" acts, so he won't report her to the police.

The "degrading" act involved Mystikal and two bodyguards, which was videoed by his hairstylist. Court records show that Mystikal was sentenced to pay the woman $350,000, and served time in prison for six years, reports say.

'Un-indict'

Following the 2003 case, Mystikal was again hit with charges in relation to rape and kidnapping in  2017. He was accused of sexual assault in October 2016, which allegedly took place at a Shreveport casino.

He was jailed for a year and a half but was released in 2019 on a $3 million bond, and the charges against him were dropped in 2020.

People pointed out that this would be Mystikal's third brush against the law with charges involving rape or sexual assault.

"People keep saying it's his third time to be charged," Pearce said, however, he also pointed out,  "and in Caddo Parish, after a grand jury indicted him, they un-indicted him."

Mystikal, born Michael Lawrence Tyler, was nominated for Best Rap Album and Best Male Rap Solo Performance at the 2003 Grammy Awards.

His music career was quite successful in the late 90s until the early 2000s. He was featured in Ludacris' "Move B***h," and even starred in "13 Dead Men," released in 2003.
