Throughout her career, Doja Cat was popularly known for combining mainly pop music with rap verses such as her songs "Kiss Me More," "Say So," "I Don't Do Drugs," and many more. However, it appears that the genre doesn't appeal to her anymore as she made a surprising announcement online, hinting a big career move.
Taking to her official Twitter account, the musician wrote "no more pop," confirming that her next project will not contain songs under the said genre.
She also shared a follow-up post, saying she agrees with the public's criticism that the majority of her rap verses are "mid and corny" and she knows it herself.
"I wasnt trying to prove anything I just enjoy making music but I'm getting tired of hearing yall say that i can't so I will," she added.
Doja Cat NEW Album Update
Over the weekend, the "Woman" hitmaker shared a screenshot of what appears to be demos for her upcoming album. The unreleased songs were titled "Wet V*****," "Balut," and "Agora Hills."
Although the musician has yet to reveal the official release dates for the three tracks mentioned above, she held a short Q&A for fans who replied to the post.

One user asked if the posted titles were the only few written or produced so far, to which Doja Cat responded that her new album will have 10 tracks in total with an additional five songs.
Regarding the genre, the rapper confirmed that the upcoming record will be "rap only."
Speaking about her own sentiments regarding the significant career move, Doja said pop isn't exciting for her anymore and she doesn't want to make pop songs.
Doja Cat Discredited as a Rapper
In a previous interview, as reported by NME, the musician recalled having one of the "greatest experiences" when she worked on the song "Vegas" for the movie "Elvis" as she gets to finally rap again.
However, Doja was disappointed after the public "discredit" her, adding, "it's nice to just put another one in the f****** bucket for a great rap song."
Elsewhere in the conversation, the musician said she doesn't blame casual listeners for their negative comments about her rapping skills as she got an award from iHeartRadio, saying her music success mainly came from pop-leaning material, and she's being "shoved down people's throats."
