The world of music was never the same again after some of the biggest stars in the industry died in the 80s. These artists made a mark on their fans as they managed to release timeless hits that some of the current generations are still listening to this day.

Many were wondering what their music would sound like in the present if they didn't die at such a young age.

Which Musicians Died in the 80s?

John Lennon

Probably the biggest singer of his time, John Lennon made a name for himself even after the Beatles disbanded. (via Grunge)

Although some of his bandmates like Paul McCartney were able to get legendary status later in their careers, the late musician became massive during his time.

After taking a break for five years, he made a big comeback by releasing the double album "Double Fantasy" together with his wife Yoko Ono.

Unfortunately, three weeks after dropping the record, John Lennon passed away after he was assassinated outside his apartment in New York City. (via Fox News)

Bob Marley

When you hear the name, Bob Marley, you would often associate him with reggae music. This is because he was the biggest musician connected to the said genre.

Throughout his career, the Jamaican-born singer was able to release over a dozen albums with his accompanying band the Wailers. He was also able to go on massive tours that sold out as thousands of fans wanted to see him perform live.

He was initially scheduled to perform on his first stateside tour in 1980, but after four dates, he collapsed in Central Park while jogging.

It was reported that the reggae singer had melanoma under his toenail that later became cancer. In 1981, the musician passed away at a hospital in Miami, Florida. (via Showbiz Cheatsheet)

Bon Scott

AC/DC is known to be one of the pillars of rock music today, but little did newer fans know that Bon Scott was one of the main reasons why the band continued thriving through the years.

In 1979, the group released "Highway to Hell" which quickly took over Australia and the world. However, his brother Derek told Australian Story that he wanted to isolate from the fame as his popularity grew.

"He wanted to be with his family, but he went for the bottle instead," he said. The musician reportedly became addicted to alcohol.

On February 19, 1980, Scott passed away and his cause of death was determined as "acute alcohol poisoning."
