Sheldon Reynolds, popularly known for being a member of Earth, Wind, & Fire as well as The Commodores, has passed away at the age of 63.

His bandmate, Philip Bailey, took to his official Facebook page to share the tragic news, saying his death is very sad for those who have worked with him in the past.

"Sheldon was an excellent addition to the band, a great writer and producer, and a genuinely kind and loving person. He will be missed. Our condolences to his family," he wrote.

He concluded the statement by noting that he was listening to the band's track titled "Sunday Morning" as a tribute to his good pal.

Sheldon Reynolds Career

According to People Magazine, Reynolds' career started when he became an opening act for Millie Jackson's tour in the '70s.

Following this, his success continued to grow after joining Sun for a while until he ended up being a member of The Commodores in the early '80s.

He stayed with the group and even crossed paths with Lionel Richie that became the frontman before he left in 1982. Throughout his time with the band, he earned his first Grammy award for the song, "Nightshift."

Following his stint with his previous group, Reynolds became a member of Earth, Wind, & Fire. The founder, Maurice White, was reportedly the person who hired him.

He later earned his second Grammy nomination for the track, "Sunday Morning."

Earth, Wind & Fire Tour 2023

The late musician was supposed to reunite with Lionel Richie for a co-headlining tour with Earth, Wind & Fire later this year.

In an announcement last March, the "American Idol" judge shared a video, announcing that he's been trying to go on tour for years and it's finally happening.

"This is the place you need to be," he told fans in a teaser video.

The upcoming series of shows will be produced by Live Nation. It will kick off at the Xcel Energy Center in St. Paul, Minnesota, on August 4, 2023.

Their last show would be at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, California, on September 15, 2023.
