Before 98 Degrees called themselves that way, the members had several choices to choose from.
98 Degrees caught people's attention with their name and songs, scoring spots on Billboard charts and other music platforms' lists.
Following the confirmation of their 25th-anniversary tour, the band members also looked back at their early days and remembered how they almost debuted under a different name.
98 Degrees Considered Other Names
The members of the '90s boy group had an interview with Us Weekly and shared details about their career, including the time they were still considering other names to call themselves.
According to Justin Jeffre, he personally wanted to be called Spontaneous Combustion. However, Nick Lachey voted for something else and stood by the name Inertia.
The other names they came up with were Just Us, First Four and Next Issue.
Previously, Jeff Timmons told "Bethenny" in 2014 that the members could not think of a cool name.
"We could not come up with a cool name," he said. "Our manager, believe it or not, had a really hot girlfriend. She was like, 'Why not call yourselves 98 degrees?' And we were like, 'Bingo!'"
Drew Lachey said they voted for it as they wanted a name that "represented the mood and tone."
When asked if they felt any rivalry with other boy bands, Timmons and Lachey opened up about what they always think about.

"We thought we were more of an R&B vocal group," Timmons said. "Not to disparage those bands - we love them, we were friends with all of them - but we thought we were different. Once the media started saying, "Well, you're like Backstreet Boys and 'N Sync," then we were like, "Oh, do we need to start dancing more?"
Meanwhile, Lachey called it both a blessing and a curse, noting that there is also pressure amid the boy band craze.
The band officially reunites on September 14 at Premier Theater at Foxwoods Resort Casino in Mashantucket, CT. to mark the first show of their 25th anniversary tour.
They will also perform at the Xcite Center on September 16 before jetting to The Family Arena in Saint Charles Mo., Hertz Arena in Estero, Fla. and Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts in Cerritos, Calif.
